What to Expect or Ask In a Consultation with a Therapist

Therapy Consultation

Make it stand out

We know that many are asking the question...what can we expect within the free 15-minute consultation? What will we be discussing?

We just want to emphasize that we are really here to help you to get through this...whether you're planning to come in alone or whether you're coming in with your partner for dating, premarital, couples, or sex therapy, we are here to support you.  We know it can be really scary to call in and ask for help, but a consultation is different than therapy, so don't worry we're not really going to be diving that deep.  However, the consultation is an opportunity for me to answer questions and logistics about our potential work together, and, hopefully, at the end of the 15 minutes, we can get a sense of if we are able to be of help to you and you’ll get a sense of if you’re comfortable and if you feel there’s a connection in order to make a decision that it’s a good fit.  If it is a good fit, let’s go ahead and get you in for an appointment, and we can discuss what that might entail.

Remember that when you are scheduling for either couples, premarital, or sex therapy you are making sure that your partner is readily available at the time of the consultation so that you can both be present.  Remember, it’s more difficult to do couples therapy with just one of you there, and we would love to see both of you.  So be aware of the time you are setting and make sure your partner can attend as well.  You and your partner are making a decision to do this together, and if you do, you can make a tremendous amount of change in your relationship.

In the meantime, we highly encourage you to take a look at our FAQ page, where we have a number of issues and topics that we cover, and also our blog page.  Our blogs cover so many topics from how to increase intimacy, dating fatigue, sexual dysfunction, and more!  It’s a great place to find tools to identify and use effective communication.

For any of those premarital couples, I know that you're putting in a tremendous amount of financial and emotional contributions towards creating the wedding of your dreams, but it's important to really think about how you would like to create the partnership of your dreams for the rest of your life.

We look forward to seeing you in the consultation soon and wish you nothing but the best!

At this particular time, we are not taking insurance, but do provide our clients with a superbill, which is a statement of account that you can provide your insurance to help assist with reimbursement, but we recommend checking with your insurance provider as to what their process is in regards to this.

Looking forward to getting you toward a happier healthier version of yourself and to Getting that Wow Factor in Your Relationship!
